What this tool does
This calculator works out how much your business pays in daily standing charges over a year, for electricity, gas or both, across one site or several, even when a unit is sitting empty.
It gives a clear annual figure so you can see the fixed cost you are carrying before a single unit of energy is used. The figures are estimates based on what you enter.
When to use it
Use it when you are reviewing your business energy bills, when you are querying standing charges with a supplier or broker, or when you are budgeting for empty or void units where the standing charge still applies.
How it works
You enter your supply type, the standing charge in pence per day for electricity and gas, the number of meters or sites and whether the property is in use or empty. It then totals the annual standing charge across your meters. Nothing you enter is saved, and you do not need to give your name or email to use it. Standing charges vary by contract and region, so check the exact rate on your bill, and remember these charges usually still apply on empty units.
